I run intimate cooking classes for 4 people in my renovated warehouse apartment in North Fitzroy in Melbourne. It feels more like a gathering of friends with a shared love of making Italian food rather than a formal class. The number of people at each class ensures we maintain appropriate distances during the pandemic but still have a whole lot of fun!
All classes are hands-on (unless specified) with your own work-station. We will be tasting the food we make and (unless specified) you will be taking some home to share with family and friends. Please note that my apartment has internal stairs so is not suitable for anyone who cannot easily walk up and down them.
Cost per class: classes are $150 per person, includes one-on-one tuition (except where indicated) and take home recipe cards/booklet. Home made Italian biscotti, cakes or savoury snacks will be served during the class as well as complimentary wine or Prosecco.
PLEASE NOTE: WHILE MELBOURNE IS IN STAGE 3 RESTRICTIONS I AM UNABLE TO RUN CLASSES. ALL CLASSES UP TO 19th AUGUST HAVE BEEN DEFERRED. So that we can all attend class safely, I am not running the following three classes during the Covid-19 pandemic: Biscotti and cannoli; Pastry making; Bespoke 3-course lunch classes. Once social distancing requirements become a thing of the past, and we can start sharing equipment, I will run them again (and we will be able to again have more people attend each class).

If there are fewer than 4 participants, classes will not be able to run and your money will be refunded. From classes purchased after 23 May 2020, if you cannot attend a class, you will be able to transfer to a future class (with one full week’s notice) or transfer the class to a friend (at any time).
Learn how to make beautiful pasta by hand as well as with a hand-cranked pasta machine. Make cavatelli or fusilli, fettuccine, coloured pasta and ravioli, then enjoy a bowl of the pasta you made and a complimentary glass of wine. Home made snacks will be available throughout the class. This is a hands-on class with your own pasta board plus pasta machine (no shared equipment, so you can go at your own pace). It runs from 11am to 2pm.

Let’s make gnocchi
Learn how to make gnocchi with potatoes, ricotta gnocchi and semolina gnocchi (gnocchi alla Romana), then enjoy the gnocchi you have made and a complimentary glass of wine. You will be able to take home a batch of potato gnocchi that you made to share with friends and family. Home made snacks will be available throughout the class. This is a hands-on class that runs from 11am to 2pm.
I am now running two different classes for pasta sauces:
“Making pasta sauces” – learn how to make up to five different pasta sauces including my mother’s killer meat sugo, a “limone” sauce, a pesto and other sauces to be decided when I visit the market to shop for this class.
“Pasta sauces no. 2” – learn how to make up to five different pasta sauces including a pork sausage ragu’, Carbonara, crema di zucchine or broccolini sauce, a seasonal pesto and a fifth sauce to be decided when I visit the market to shop for this class.
We will try all the sauces, matched with different shapes and types of pasta seated at the dining table with a glass of complimentary wine. Home made snacks will be available throughout the class. The classes can be adapted if you eat gluten free for 4 of the 5 courses. Please let me know when you book! This is mainly a demonstration class with participants helping me prepare the sauces and runs from 11am to 2pm.

Mamma’s apple strudel masterclass
This class is dedicated to the recipes my mother taught me. Learn how to make my mamma’s apple strudel, typical of the northeastern corner of Italy (with pastry so thin you can read love letters through it). I also be demonstrating a batch of sweet apple frittole for us to share during the class which we will eat accompanied by complimentary Prosecco. This is a hands-on class. You will be making strudel in pairs and taking half of one home to share with family and friends. The class runs from 1pm to 4pm.
