A memorable meal at newly refurbished Cosi @cosiba A memorable meal at newly refurbished Cosi @cosibarristorante last week. Owners Omar and Giacomo, who also run @cucinettamelb , have established a classy restaurant on Toorak Rd to replace the existing Cosi. The food was faultless and included fiore di zucca ripieno (filled with truffle ricotta), insalata caprese, scallops with a roasted cauliflower purée and salsa verde, linguine marinara, ravioli porcini (which was my favourite dish of the evening), a traditional torta al limone and a digestivo of biscotto and limoncello. They have an extensive wine list and I enjoyed an excellent Ribolla Gialla from Friuli. Black and white Fellini movies are projected on a screen on the wall and there is a courtyard (that was not open the night we went) out the back. Thanks so much for the invite - loved it and we cannot wait to return

I have been planning my two week stay in Istria in I have been planning my two week stay in Istria in May to complete the research for my third cookbook. We have accomodation booked in Izola (Isola) and Bale (Valle d’Istria), two food tour days with @eatistria , meeting with a distant Bacchia cousin @tara_ex_karma_official and visiting the tiny town where my nonno was born with another cousin. And hoping @iammaximilic will come and stay with us for a few days as well. I will also visit the Roman Arena in Pula (Pola) and the house where my nonni and father lived up until February 1947, only a few hundred meters from the arena, which has become a kind of pilgrimage every time I go there (though the house has turned into a Seventh Day Adventist Church, which feels a bit odd)

Food and flowers are some of the things I love mos Food and flowers are some of the things I love most in the world - so when Richelle from @villa_floretti_flowers asked me to run workshops this year at her Mornington Peninsula protea farm, I just couldn’t say no. On Saturday 4 April and Saturday 17 October we will again be DREAMING of PUGLIA. Join Richelle and me for a beautiful day of making pasta by hand (including orecchiette), matching sauces and a seasonal dessert - sharing lunch (with wine) on the terrace at Villa Floretti (weather permitting) and arranging your own bunch of flowers which you then get to take home. Have a look at some of the photos from last year’s workshop - and if you are interested, click on the link in my profile to take you to the Villa Floretti workshop page to find out more details and to book
Remember those oven roasted tomatoes I made last y Remember those oven roasted tomatoes I made last year? Well that is fine if you don’t, I forgot about them in the craziness of December too and found half a jar in the fridge a few days ago. I whizzed them up and made them into a roasted tomato pesto, that I ate with corzetti pasta (shaped like medallions). I wrote a blog post about it too. Click on the link in my profile to get the recipe and my post
