Cooking classes in Melbourne

I run small cooking classes for between 4 and 6 people in my renovated warehouse apartment in North Fitzoy in Melbourne. It feels more like a gathering of friends with a shared love of making Italian food rather than a formal class.

All classes are hands-on (unless specified) with your own work-station. We will be tasting the food we make and you will be taking some home to share with family and friends.

Cost per class: $125 per person, includes one-on-one tuition and a take home recipe booklet. Home made Italian biscotti or savoury snacks will be served during the class as well as complimentary Prosecco (or Italian mineral water if you prefer).

BESPOKE CLASSES: I run bespoke Italian cooking demonstrations (with a bit of hands-on) out of my apartment in North Fitzroy for 4-6 of your closest friends or family – tell me what Italian food you would like to learn to cook and we can design the menu together! These can take the form of 2-course lunches accompanied by Prosecco. Please get in touch with me via the contact form below if you would like to find out more. Example menus from past classes include:

  • ricotta and herb gnocchi; panzanella salad and Sicilian cannoli
  • baked semolina gnocchi; braised silverbeet and potatoes and saltimbocca alla Romana

 

If there are fewer than 4 participants, classes will not be able to run and your money will be refunded. If you are unable to attend a class with up to 72 hours (3 full days) notice, you can obtain a credit to attend a future class.

Italian street food – cannoli and sweet taralli

My mother is from the Veneto region of Italy, and I grew up eating risotto at least once a week. In this part demonstration, part hands-on class, you will be learning the basics of risotto-making, using the stir-method and no-stir method. We will also be making arancini and suppli’, two different types of Italian Street food made using leftover risotto as a base. We will have a sit down meal, accompanied by complimentary Prosecco and a salad (just to balance all the rice!).
