I run small cooking classes for 6 people in my renovated warehouse apartment in North Fitzroy in Melbourne. It feels more like a gathering of friends with a shared love of making Italian food rather than a formal class.
All classes are hands-on (unless specified) with your own work-station. We will be tasting the food we make and (unless specified) you will be taking some home to share with family and friends. Please note that my apartment has internal stairs so is not suitable for anyone who cannot easily walk up and down them.
Cost per class: classes are $140 per person, includes one-on-one tuition (except where indicated) and a take home recipe booklet. Home made Italian biscotti, cakes or savoury snacks will be served during the class as well as complimentary wine or Prosecco.
BESPOKE CLASSES: I run bespoke Italian cooking demonstrations (with a bit of hands-on) out of my apartment in North Fitzroy for 4-6 of your closest friends or family – tell me what Italian food you would like to learn to cook and we can design the menu together! These can take the form of 3-course lunches accompanied by wine. Please get in touch with me via the contact form below if you would like to find out more. The cost will depend on the menu we come up with and how many people attend but is usually $140-160 per person. Example menus from past classes include:
- ricotta and herb gnocchi; panzanella salad and Sicilian cannoli
- baked semolina gnocchi; braised silverbeet and potatoes and saltimbocca alla Romana
- crostini; spinach and ricotta ravioli and an Italian jam crostata

Learn how to make five different pasta sauces including my mother’s killer meat sugo, Amatriciana sauce, a “limone” sauce, a pesto and a fifth sauce to be decided when I visit the market to shop for this class. We will try all the sauces, matched with different shapes and types of pasta seated at the dining table with a glass of complimentary wine. Home made snacks will be available throughout the class. This is a demonstration class with a maximum of 6 participants and runs from 11am to 2pm.
Mamma’s apple strudel masterclass
Learn how to make my mamma’s apple strudel, typical of the northeastern corner of Italy (with pastry so thin you can read love letters through it). Snacks will be available throughout the class as well as complimentary Prosecco. This is a hands-on class and a maximum of 6 participants. You will be making strudel in pairs and taking half of one home to share with family and friends. The class runs from 1pm to 4pm.
Italian sweet treats
Learn how to make three types of traditional Italian biscotti. We will be making mostaccioli, delicious spicy diamond shaped biscotti typically eaten in Puglia, ricotta-filled cannoli and either Sicilian lemon taralli or crostoli. You will be taking a batch of what you make home, to share with family and friends. Home made snacks and a glass of complimentary Prosecco will be available during the class. This is a hands-on class with one-on-one tuition and a maximum of 6 participants; it runs from 1pm to 4pm.
